Information
The P.C.E.A. Athena church was founded by Ndarugu church.
The pioneer district was Witeithie.
The church started in a small rented house on 3/10/1993 in Witeithie estate. The elder of Wheithie by that time was Mrs. Janet Wanjiku Kiige who was also the chairperson.
The Church had a congregation of only ten people who were going to Ndarugu church every Sunday. The Ndarugu church had requested for a piece of land by Athena Coffee Factory LTD in 1988. In 1994 the company sent a reply and Rev. Dr. Ngoima togetherwith Janet W. Kiige and Elder Sarah Kibiku visited the company and were shown the plot which was dedicate- the same year. In 1995, the Presbyterial youth pledged to construct the church and presented the request to Murang a presbytery. The construction started in the same year. The foundation stone was laid by Rev. Joseph Ngige Wairi the presbytery clerk who was also the youth chaplain in the same year. The church is build on a ¾ acre plot and is situated about 2 ½ km from Thika Nairobi highway. Since existence, the following elders have served the church: -Kinuthia Kiige, Janet Kiige, Peter Muiruri and currently Mr. Kenneth Nyaga. The church is the mother of PCEA Tumaini church and has the following: -
